This is a time lapse version of Noel Chalmers' solution of Magic120Cell (the first solution ever for this puzzle). To compress the video length, only 1 of every 10 actual moves are shown.

Magic120Cell is a higher dimensional analogue of the Megaminx puzzle. It is one of a number of permutation puzzles created and enjoyed by the "hypercubists" of the 4D_Cubing group.

  • I'd like to see a magic 600 cell...

  • @BRyanS72 A program called "Magic Puzzle Ultimate" supports the 600-cell puzzle. No one has (or probably ever will) solve it. Here is a link: astr73.narod.ru/MPUlt/MPUlt.html

  • To me it looks like its just a bunch of megaminxs that aren't even attached. I know I'm wrong in saying that, but from the video it looked like moving a piece on one cube didn't move the others, can anyone clarify why this is so hard?

  • The puzzle is exploded so that we can see all the dodecahedral faces, but the behavior is still as if these faces are attached to each other. It is similar in idea to presenting an exploded view of a 3D cube in 2D. If this is your first exposure to a higher dimensional analogue of a Rubik-like puzzle, I highly recommend reading the FAQ for the 4D cube puzzle (I added a link for that in the video info). It will help clarify things.

  • It is insane! How the hell can you see the pieces? And how can you separate the different colors?

And the biggest question: How long does it take from you to do the full solve?

  • The program itself (see links in the video info) allows zooming, rotating, etc. so that you are better able to see all the pieces. There are also some functions to help you find pieces (because it IS difficult to distinguish between all the colors). Noel told me it took him about a week to solve this. His solution had over 33,000 moves!

  • lol solving this right now, it's more tedious than difficult ^_~

Also, I believe 6 people solved it now

  • @macbookfan33 This is like solving the 4d magic cube, search "Magiccube4d" on google, go to the website, and there will be a link leading you to "Roice's solution" From there solve the 3x3x3x3, then you can start on the 120-cell

  • Tutorial?

  • @john17972 It's a 4-D analogue. Noticed how every piece is one solid colour, and sometimes an inner megaminx zooms into the middle? Use the power of Google.

  • This is like solving the anti life equation.......

  • Superbe !!!!

  • THAT'S B.S.! YOU ARE JUST SOLVING A BUNCH OF REGULAR MEGAMINXS.

  • awesome!! congradulations
