@applegreen7777 She's executing these shines in the salsa On1 style of dance and has chosen to stick with the follower's counts/steps for it. Different instructors have their preferences. The wider Salsa On1 community teaches the way you have probably known in the past, but there are some instructors who teach shines this way.
The idea, I guess, is so that the person who dances partnerwork with that particular footwork, this particular case being the follower, won't have to switch timing.

Awesome! I just have a question: are the shines supposed to be with the 1st beat on Left foot or the right?????
coz I was under the impression that ALL the shines (including supported ones) need to start with the Left foot (like guys)
Can someone fill me in on that??????
