I'm guessing it would take broadening the definition of nerdiness by collectively deciding to create an environment of nerdy acceptance. Jocks are already nerds, they just don't know it. :)

Very good point! I'm always a little confused at how my mother is perfectly content to jump up and down in front of the TV when watching sports, but doesn't understand how I can get excited about a new episode of a show I like. Or how she'll go on and on about wanting a pair of Patriots themed heels, but gives me an odd look when she finds out I've ordered series-related merchandise. It IS practically the same thing.

I've always kinda seen the jocks and sports fans as the nerds or outcasts, and the nerds (which would include me) as not a nerd, mainly for the fact that in being nerdy, say about a game, we actually accomplish more in our period of time n front of a gameboy or nintendo consol than does the jock who merely manages to dent a couch cousion and possibly polish off a pizza/bag of chips.

We (nerds) actually use our potential in the world, unlike the jocks (in this case).
