@KissMeGoodbye11 when mares of other breeds do it is a sign that their going into, in, or coming out of season.

@MyPonyMrDarcy she could very possibly be genetically tested as dun. Chestnuts don't come that light and she's not expressing any signs of 'roan' so she looks 'red dun' which doesn't always have the line-back indication of a dun horse.
