INTERVIEW:

What is your career ambition and what are you doing or planning to do to accomplish that goal?
Currently I'm in the army serving out my bond and so I've no concrete plans yet. But in the long run, I hope to run a business with a few partners, particularly related to fitness and training, educating consumers on the various fitness and training techniques.


What are you interests and what do you enjoy doing the most?
My interests include reading, listening to music, running, playing basketball and hanging out with friends over beer and a good conversation topic. What I enjoy doing the most, believe it or not, is bumming around at home with nothing to worry!


What is the craziest thing you have ever done?
Apart from joining this pageant and stepping out of my comfort zone, I would say it's the airborne course, parachuting 1,000 feet from a moving aircraft.


What is your strongest and weakest quality?
My strongest quality is that I'm adaptable in the faces of challenge. My weakest quality is my soft-spoken nature.


Name one personal accomplishment that makes you especially proud.
I used to be obese when I was younger. I weighed 82kg in Secondary One. I'm proud that I've decided to lose all that weight with determination.


Who, other than your parents, has had the most influence in your life and why?
My grandmother. When both my parents went to work when I was younger, she was the one who took care of me and told me about her experiences and lessons in life. She was the one who defended me when I was bullied by the other kids in school because of my weight.


What makes you special and different from the other contestants?
I would guess it's the mindset towards the pageant. I don't believe that MISTER SINGAPORE is about choosing who looks the best. It's about the whole experience of meeting people, stepping out of your comfort zone, and feeling good about yourself regardless of what others think.


What is the most important thing you want the judges to know about you?
I'm 26 years old this year and am not getting any younger. I've got to try everything while I'm still young
