This is a new design I found, they work with a Fresnel Lens or a Parabolic Mirror. Strong and efficient for its size. A proper Fresnel Lens. Also a Dual Rotor Axial Flux Generator.

Most people try a plastic reflector from the back, this is a poor option. Also if you use a standard "Dynamo" for power, you will be lucky to get 3-10 watts. Stirling engines are hindered by "COGGING" Axial Flux limits cogging.

Still the overall cost and time to get a max of 40 watts. Solar Panels are by far the best option. But these are fun for sure.

We have been trying different videos and had a run of experiments not going right. Also Florida is very cloudy from June - July, this video took 4 hours to shoot waiting for the clouds.

  • @21mozzie I want to be independent from non-renewables.

  • @21mozzie Cool, thanks for the reply.

Hey, have you seen wood gasification units that generate electricity? I've found models that make 10kw, but that's much more than what I need. They seem to be pretty efficient. I've been looking for specs on them to find out just how they go about making the electricity. I'm pretty sure it's from heating water into steam. With all the low power devices I'd have in my home, 1kw should be enough.

  • @chanceturcotte To be efficient, stirling engines need a big heat differential. I would think it would be difficult to achieve this with a wood stove. Also stirling engines work best at one speed so it wouldn't be good at meeting your varying power/water cooling demands.

You could rig up a heat exchanger on your wood stove to heat your water. That would be just as efficient be simple than a stirling engine. As for electricity, it would be far cheaper from mains.

  • @nashkita77 YET!

  • oh! hot air for combustion right?

  • Slightly related question. Is it possible to use a fresnel lens or other lens or mirror of sorts to drop more light on a solar panel, therefore getting it to produce more output?

  • @chanceturcotte I asked a manufacturer... and adapting their gasification wood stove for electricity generation would void the warranty, but I wonder how this could be gone about safely?

  • @21mozzie hmmmm... what about a gasification wood stove? I'd love a gasification wood stove to provide my hot water, heating and electricity! Seems like the best way to go!
