  • as true to many other Australians, Raelene made the move up to the 400m. I can only wish she would have considered another two years at the event to only see some success at this event in Los Angeles.

  • I returned to school on 15/11/1982. And in 2007, I discovered by pure luck I was watching all of this on October 3-10, 1982 without noticing the 1% reference all along. The 1% reference was the fact that the Queen came to Australia to open these Commonwealth games and of course, her first visit to Australia was way back in 1954....

  • Thismajor sports event was my first exposure to a long multi-day sports broadcasting. I loved watching this and it it lead to my love of events like the Olympics, Tour de France, etc right now. I was able to watch this at age 12 on a school day from start to finish as I did not have to go to school in October 1982 as I broke a leg running across a busy six-laned highway and got hit by a car on Angust 20, 1982 in a successful attempt to avoid receiving the Salk vaccine at school.

  • I love how they separate England, Wales and Scotland. Does northern Ireland consider themselves different from rest Ireland in this same manner or are they all just Irish nothing more.

  • That might be the first drug free race I've ever seen at the pro level lol

  • yaaay raelene boyle !! haha i was also cheerinq for new zealandd but shee didnt make a placee .. but anywayss yaaay !

  • Cruised to victory on a wind of emotion and a Great! Big! Heart!! .....Champion!!

  • I have witnessed it and it was sheer class by this sucessful Australian athlete long before Cathy Freeman.

  • I was there, man it was great. The crowd was amazing... if I do say so myself. Raels is a bloody legend

  • Raelene was the fastest 'legal' female athlete for most of the 1970's. A true champion and survivor of breast cancer.
