For those that debate the best parking position for their SteppIRs, I suggest as this evidence shows, that it is best left with the elements at 90 degrees to the wind direction. The fibreglass elements flex considerably to dissipate wind load. The tower is a One Man Tower by VK4KKD at 15m to the top section plus mast above. A slide carriage runs on rails built into the tower. The rotator is an OzSpid (Canadian Spidi). Normally the monstIR is lowered under these wind levels, but ces la vie, sometimes one arrives too late! Nice to know it will survive these types of wind loadings :-)

    Hi Paul,

Took about 72 hours and I have to admit that the instructions left a lot to the imagination IMHO. It is a solid construction however and a very effective antenna. You can read my report on eham. Best regards Mario

PS. I would like to try the Ultrabeam

  • how easy were the build instructions for the antenna and how long did it take you

    regards paul
