Boney M is a truly unforgettable name in the history of music. This glamorous and extremely likeable group came together in 1976 and ever since then occupied a special place in the hearts of music lovers the world over. Frank Farian, Liz Mitchell, Maizie Williams, Marcia Barrett and Bobby Farrell formed Boney M.

Though Boney M made modest beginnings, they soon turned into a major hit with their music which was catchy, lively and very rhythmic. Boney M's music has influences of Reggae, Funk, Rock, Gospel and Disco.

Their songs had distinctive soul soothing melodies and foot tapping beats and this is probably the reason why Boney M's songs were played non stop at all the discos around the world.

Boney M became a sensational hit and remained so till today.

  • only one girl of that band really sing.

the music, lyrics, and most singing is from their producer.

its the same producer from milli vanilli.and the same situation.milli vanilli dont sing.they are just for the show.the producer sing and make the music.

  • @Plexpara It is lie. Boney M weren't copy Milli Vanilli. Yes, the producer sang in studio. However real female voices Liz Mitchell and Marcia Barrett which you see on a scene. The others didn't recorded in studio, however sang at concerts own voices. It is a shame to repeat the false information from ill-wishers and stupid critics from newspapers.

  • @abagoff

but thats a fact.and they say it all the time.its no secret.

the producer make the first album as "boney m." alone.he just dont want bring that songs with his real name.

later he need a face for boney m.so he found the 4 "singers" in a casting.

  • @Plexpara You in the mind? The producer has recorded independently only the first single (one song). Then artists who worked on stage and in studio have been chosen. If you don't know true history Boney M, don't extend the errors.

  • @abagoff

In 80"s in studio sang Reggie Tsioboe, too.

  • @nhosterrr Not only in studio, but also at live concerts.

  • I just heard this on Radio 4 ("The Paper Round" series, Tony McCaulay episode) and I thought it was Hazel O'Connor singing !

A bit more searching led me to this. Great song and interesting to find out that it wasn't released in Canada or the US because the political context of the song.

Apparently, it was written by Drafi Deutscher for Marcia Barrett when she was solo, but when she sang it with Boney M on tour is was so popular they added it to their second album.

Number 1 in Germany, UK 8.

  • Marcia Barret la más grande, l más guapa y la mejor voz...
