"they might also be playing just a smidge off of the click on purpose"
Dude, I love SCV as much as anyone...but SERIOUSLY?
-
hhahhaaha the best part is the last measure and the sticks in

@BDizDaBest Disagree that they're suckups because some of them are right (those who explained the delay "phenomenon" here correctly lol), but thoroughly agree with you that people over-criticize BD. This particular year ('03) they were absolutely insane. My favorite BD show ever, and I'm so glad they won that year.

The met beat is shooting away from the cameraman, off the building, and back. That takes time to reach the cameraman. The drums' sounds are traveling less than half the distance - directly at the camera. If there WASN'T a sound delay I'd say it was a fake... I mean it would defy PHYSICS! Then again... SCV's drumline sometimes defies being human. They're superhuman.

i will trade anyone bouble beat 9000 for this sheet music
-
@deepfriedbobby But they were consistently off ;)

lol aww, look at all the little suckups trying so hard to defend SCV. I guarantee that if this was BD, everyone would be jumping down their throats relentlessly. Then again, that's really just a testament to how badly BD beats the shit out of every other corps out there - Dominance breeds resentment.

ahhh... back when everyone used Vic.....

this is my second year playing and i was trying to learn this but...
i miserably failed because im still very inexperienced,so can someone tell me what i need to get the beginning right?
because the stickking is LL RLRR LLRL RRLL in straight 16 notes but the RL part always stick out,can someone help me make it stick out less?

I was there. It was not out of time. The warmup was at the housing site and there were few people there, but I was one of them. Look at the beginning when he is clicking his sticks and it is delayed with the met. There is a sound delay because of it bouncing off of the building.
Clearly, the met was rushing.

All the talk about playing on top of the metronome...
Listen again and you'll notice that they don't drop a single beat from the "met". They stay on tempo through the whole exercise.
Now, whether you're hearing an echo from the loudspeaker or whatever, they might also be playing just a smidge off of the click on purpose. That way, they can actually hear it, whereas if they tried playing on top of it they'll bury it with their own sound.
What do I know, though; I'm just a low brass player.
