Interview with Michael Guzman, a former Marine and current Texas State University student. Guzman is a member of the national group, Students for Concealed Carry on Campus, which is pushing to allow students with concealed handgun permits to be able to carry on campus for self-defense.

I've gotten several emergency texts on my phone from the school about reports of someone carrying a weapon on campus to stay indoors.... Awesome, So I get to stay indoors and hope they don't come to the classroom I am and if they do, oh well... sucks for me?

I don't see why law abiding citizens and permit holders cannot carry on campus... if someone wants to bring a gun on campus they will regardless of the law...

Well from what I understand about the cosmos, Life is extremely rare. Seems reasonable to have a tool ready to defend your extremely rare chance to be alive from an extremely rare situation that will take your life. "Incabable.. yourself with out a gun" There is only one type of defense, firearm defense. If you've been in a fight and you weren't sprinting away from it just before it started your nothing but a criminal. Run from fights, defend with guns.

@Jmix91dak....ever heard the saying "when seconds matter, the police are only minutes away." Look at VaTech. That massacre years ago, the police were called, and even after they were that man killed plenty more students. Had one student, in one of those classes been a good shot, calmed nerves, and a CCW, guarenteed the damage woulda been much less.

Yeah, those college campuses are magical places alright. Not only do they have some sort of magical barrier which secures them as 'gun free zones' but they also would apparently turn law-abiding citizens into crazed, armed maniac if they were ever allowed to be armed on campus.

Why do people need a gun on campus to shoot the guy that wants to shoot them and the people around me. Its probably a 1% change it will ever happen but Id rather be safe than sorry. which means Id rather be Alive then Dead

I guess when you step on campus your life is less valuable and less rightful to self-protect because of frat-boy stereotypes. They must imagine some loud, dumb frat-boy being held upside down over a keg and his gun falling from his waistline, going off, and killing another drunk frat-boy. I wish that just once, JUST ONCE, we could have the chance to have armed students and faculty during another inevitable mass-murder plot. We prevent crimes nearly a million times a year. This won't be different

why the hellz do you need a gun on campus unless you are going to shoot people? scared girls get a tazer or pepper spray, scared wussy man-pussies do the same or maybe take a karate class or something are you really incapable of defending yourself without a gun?? campus shootings are extremely rare
