@rmcdaniel423 All wheel drive is marketing non-sense. You either have a center differential, or you do not.
Since you split your tractive power fore/aft you have much more traction than a single axle drive system (front/rear)
Off-road drive, is not much of a 'system' but what happens when you lock your center differential.
Cheaper systems just omit the center differential, so you can not use it on pavement, ever.
Four wheel drive came before off-road drive, like in the Spyker of 105 years ago.

@rmcdaniel423 I agree with you, and that is why I wish for the AWD nonsense to go away. Sick of hearing all wheel drive, I grew up with 4x4 and 4 wheel drive and its proven that it works. All wheel drive, cannot keep up.

This is misleading. AWD systems have the ability to send power to all 4 wheels, but only under smooth dry conditions. If a wheel loses traction and begins to spin, all power seeks the path of least resistance, so all power is directed to the one wheel with NO traction. The "better" systems try to overcome this flaw by using electronic braking systems to slow the spinning wheel and hopefully divert power to another wheel. The "primitive" part time system she mentioned first is the best.
