That magnet tape was truly something for analog recording.

Probably the best recording of this movement. In Kleiber's version the trumpets of the second theme are too feeble.

i agree about the power of this recording..passionate in an almost desperate way... i wonder what was going on in their heads...the coughing suggests not everyone was well... even if 43, things were very difficult in Germany...and of course many of the musicians would not likely have been sympathetic to the Party....
