It just was made so dramatically. John never really knew much about his grandma.

How is that scary? How is that dark? It's a fact of life. If anything I only thought Jasper's fate was dark, but due to the fact that he's apparently going to be remade and whatnot into the kernal sprite, I don't find it that bad.
We also knew that John's Grandma was dead, and her ashes were on the fireplace mantel, and apparently that didn't scare you much if at all.

Seriously, Homestuck was so nice and happy and all back then! Today, Jaspers' fate was pretty dark, and too is the fact that Jade's granddad is dead. This shit's almost getting scary man.
