@Duluiyah why wouldnt a Marine defend another Service Member? Oh, wait its because you think they all buy into the short-man complex of the Corp? Boots and Civilians are the only 1s who do.
-
Caddillac CTS at 0:12 right? big ups to Daggit though
-
@bigc0225 not at all the comment you posted the 1st time. your comment was anti-military. This is about the Va guard 1173rd. How do you get Marines out of that? Ya. I have many comments from many saying they are Army, Marines, Air Force, Navy, S.F. what ever. No Comments have been posted against anyone but 1173rd. You want to defend them? Your loss
-
@Duluiyah The National Guard is still part of the military, and I live in Southwest Virginia, where the 1173rd are from
-
@bigc0225 re-read comments. Nothing is said about the Military. It's all about the 1173rd Va. Guard. Understand? You must be from the Va guard 1173rd a Marine would never make such a statement to defend the 1173rd. nice try

@Duluiyah And before you try to hit me with some Anti-American rhetoric... I'm going to clarify that I am not happy that these men were killed or that we shouldn't defend them while they're there, because we do, and I personally would. But all this anti-military sentiment is sickening, especially considering there are so many angles to this story. I am a Marine, and I served actively in Iraq during the same time frame. Civilians need not be there, it is a danger to EVERYONE.

@Duluiyah I can see what you are TRYING to say, but you are FALSE. I have some questions to you, in general.. why.. why in the hell should the Americans pay 5x as much for untrained truck drivers when the military could do it themselves, for less??? Also, why should it be the military's priority to defend AMERICAN CIVILIANS IN A FOREIGN NATION WORKING? It's not as if they lived there prior-to. Why do we find it necessary to stick over-paid civilians in harms way?
-
I understand things didn't go down perfectly, but watching so many of these videos, I'm so sick and tired of seeing the anti-military mentality because you're listening to untrained truck drivers from their point-of-view. And then, when actual combat vets try to tell you the SOP and explain what happened, they're told they're liars and this is a coverup.

@Duluiyah I understand your frustration my friend. The ROE was all wrong for this mission, the route was wrong this was an accident waiting to happen. Going through a populated area like that with multiple ambush points and winding up at a dead end without an alternate was just messed up. The SOP works but what got me was that humvee gunner who didn't fire a shot. I have to believe some suppressing fire would have caused the I.P.s to hit the deck and gave you all some more time to rally.
SOP is that when a vehicle is disabled, you push through and keep going to another point and regroup. It's called a "kill zone" for a reason. The object is to stop the traffic and then pick off the stopped vehicles and crew one by one. You hit the front and you hit the back, everything gets stopped. That is why you have to push ahead. It's hard and it's a tough call but it has to be made. The safety of the convoy is the goal, hard to say but better one than all. That is the logic.

@ZeitgeistWI KBR trucks 2, 6 and 7 made it out of the ambush. all others were stuck behind KBR #5. 45 min later Army from McKenze arrived at the ambush site. Va guard pushed on to McKenze. 3 KBR drivers KIA 3 KBR drivers wounded. All Va guard made it out alive and received medals for Bravery. SOP is SOS, it's used in all wars to keep civilians from knowing the truth.
