@jane1975 The four cats in the Panthera Family are the only ones that I know of that can roar. Cougars and Cheetahs are biggest cats that can purr, but they can't roar as they lack the elongated and specially adapted larynx and hyloid apparatus.

The Cougar is a beautiful animal but it needed to be in the wild not a pet in a home.
