It's a rare treat to see this ol' gal strutting her stuff. It is enough to make any rail passenger fan feel verklempt!

Seeing the vid just reminds me how long it's been since I've been to the IRM. I remember when 9911A was a static display many years ago because only one of its engines ran. I've since gotten a couple rocky rides in the Zephyr. I should get a schedule and see when it'll be running, and make the short trip to Union to get another ride. Was it going "Normal Speed"? :-D

God this looks like a blast wish there was more video like this

@lolz976 Probably the limit was 79

what were they doin' speed wise? looked like 75-80mph but i couldn't tell

Imagine if you had been in your car at that crossing watching the double-stacks pass by & all of a sudden there's this silver streamliner roaring at you!

@DASCO2136 It Is a tunnel motor. If it was a 45, it would have flared radiator intakes.

It's like loading up the gas pedal in a 1930's car to pass a line of semi trucks...and then watching the amazed face of the front driver as you power by.
WOW, an E5 on the mainline overtaking a modern intermodal freight...priceless! 5***** and favorite!

Conductor: Hey Joe! I think were not in 1996 anymore!
Engineer: Why is that Ed?
Conductor: A Zypher is coming up along side us!
Engineer: WTF!?
Conductor: Better call dispatch so we can get the correct year we are in!
The DID see a ghost! o_O
