I have made a few of my yahoo avatar into a animated file called a gif that I sometimes use on social networking sites as my picture. So someone ask me how did I do it so I made this video. You will need to sign into your yahoo account to design your avatar the way you want. You want to make it do different face expressions once you finish. Once you have it designed like you want you will zoom in on your avatar and capture the face expressions you have it make ...with camstudio...then once you capture the avatar in a video file usually avi file ..you then will used animation program to convert the video file into the gif file. I love messing around with graphic stuff at times thats all....it can be fun!

You need:

To make a yahoo avatar You need to already have a yahoo account ... make your avatar here
http://messenger.yahoo.com/features/avatars/

Have the program camstudio(or another program I got camstudio free at download.com) to capture your yahoo avatar into a video file.

Have an animation program that will convert video file format into gif picture file format. I used Jasc Animation Shop or you probably can find one to use on trail basis at download.com

Ok thanks for viewing

  • So nope I did not approve your comment. I don't go around leaving snide, rude comments on other people videos and I appreciate if you will not do it to mines. If my video don't appeal to you by all means please block me or don't look at it. I want peace, and harmony on my videos, not mean rude negative people putting me down because I may talk a little bit funny. We all unique different people and I love that about us, it makes life more interesting. Be bless in all you do and keep it positive!

  • Yeah that's why I mention that, you always got some people that want to be rude. They get off on putting people down talking to you Redxlilxsleepy. Its like this if you can't say something positive and nice to encourage someone on, try to hold your tongue. Don't like my video well you don't have to look at it. Ask God or hey the universe to give you a more positive and enlightening spirit about you instead of leaving snide remarks on people videos. You not happy so you want 2down others.

  • Thanks Jane for all your help.

In case you are interested, I've found out yesterday that the Yahoo Avatar flash file (SWF) can be obtained directly in two steps 1.) Get the Avatar SWF URL by navigating to Yahoo Pulse Profile page and View Source. 2.) Save the SWF by navigating to Tools-->Page Info-->Media in Firefox.

I will be trying to convert the SWF to GIF using Super Video Converter this evening.

  • @CielBleu hey thanks for letting me know that, hmm sounds little complicated, well let me know how it works out for you, have a great day!

  • @CielBleu Hey sorry yours came out blurry, but mines came out just like the original the animation, well it may not had been as clear to be honest, ok. Then once I got a AVI file I had this program that came with paintshop pro called Animation Shop by Jasc software, so that is how I was able to get it in the Gif form. I tell yah it was a process. Hopes this help, thanks have a great day!

  • @keeponstriving Hi Jane, thanks for your reply. I've made a AVI file with the animated Yahoo Avatar using Snagit since I couldn't launch CamStudio on Windows Vista. But, the GIF that was converted from AVI using Amazing Video Editor is not as clear as the original animation. It's kind of fuzzy. Here are two questions for you:

    1. Is your GIF exactly like the original Yahoo Avatar animation?

    2. What tool did you use to convert AVI to GIF?

    THANKS!

  • @ilovedogs1041 First you got to have a yahoo account, I know that much. Then you go to avatars.yahoo.com to make your avatar the way you want. Hope that helps, have a great day!

  • @CielBleu Hey there Ciel, well I use the Camstudio video program to capture my avatar doing the different emotions. I capture it into an Avi video file. Then I take it into Animation shop program. That's all hope that help a little there are other programs out there too that do the same thing but probably not free, sure have a trail. Like Snagit, or Capturewiz two others I used. Ok have a fun great day!

  • @keeponstriving how do you get to there in the beginning like what do you type

  • Thanks so much for your video tutorial, which has given me some idea in converting a Yahoo Avatar image to an animated GIF file.

Making animated Yahoo Avatar images and converting a video file to a GIF are simple for me. What I am not clear from the instructions (video or text) is exactly how CamStudio is utilized with the Yahoo Avatars interface for making the video file.

I will have to try to figure out how the video file is generated after work today.
