The seventh entry in Decathlon's ongoing series of ten books on newsprint is by the Tokyo-based painter Tomoo Gokita, and it's gloriously, unrepentently weird. Past the bright pink cover and cheerful title lies a unstable mixture: delicately awkward figurative drawings rub shoulders with optically disruptive patterns and close-ups of Gokita's trademark psychedelic abstractions. These elements somehow gel together to create a fearsome whole from the sum of its deranged parts. Far out.
