Goths are Anti-Conformists. And if that word is too big for you, it means they hate being "in the crowd."
Emos are people with emotional problems, obviously. They can't ever keep their feelings to themselves and hide them. They dress the way they feel. Which means preppy girls are emos too, they just dress showing how they feel at that moment.
