During the 'Top three Gene Hunt one-liners' segment of BBC One's 'The One Show' at 7pm on Fri 2 Apr 2010, Adrian Chiles responded to the number one quote, 'Listen love, how about you detect me some Garibaldi biscuits to go with this cuppa', with 'That's how women detectives should be spoken to.'

This kind of comment causes young people to subconsciously cross career paths off the list, and makes it just a little more acceptable for yobs to disrespect female police officers.

It's not enough just to write Adrian Chiles off as a sexist twit; this sort of claptrap will remain acceptable as long as people don't make a fuss about it.
