I love Joan as an actress. None of us know the truth of what happened with Christine. I never thought of her as a beauty though. Think in her early years she had really block features. She was prettier, in my opinion in mid life.

I am not sure of the exact date this scene was filmed in 1929, but do you notice how she is fiddling around with her ring at the beginning? She married Douglas Fairbanks Jr on June 3rd of that year. Maybe she is sending a secret love message.
