hey skill teacher Im considering dreads in the future when my hair gets a little longer. was wondering if you could breifly explain the pros and cons of this needle method as compared to the other backcombing/spinning and waxing methods. and also, are fresh dreads done with the needle method tighter and more durable than fresh dreads done using other methods?

needle is expensive but u dont need wax if u get a good professional. I just got mine needled and had it for 4 years without doing anything. Dreads are very very annoying to have but they look cool. Just be warned they do get very very very annoying.

yes, just be warned that many people under estimate how much time is required to do this method. You will get clean locs but they will need continual maintenance every few months. And as they grow out or you shower you will get loose hairs that need to be put back into the loc. After a few years the locs will become more stable but they will still need maintenance every few months. This method will work on all types of hair. If your hair has a natural curl then it may require lss maintenance.

A few people that I have talked to have undone their needle style dreads but they did not have them for very long and I bet it stripped the hair.
