Here's an ad that many will remember from the Saturday morning cartoon lineup in the late 70s and early 80s... Captain Cleanup! What a bunch of characters this dude has to fight!

  • I remember seeing this ad when I was in kindergarten, which would have been around '73. The animation is not as slick as I would have thought, and in my childhood recolection, the crime fighter character was more like Dick Tracy that what I see here. I had a hard time finding this video because I thought that the character was called "Litterman".

  • @dynagravitomagnetic ,

By the end of the decade all that aired of the was the last five seconds where CC makes his pitch: "Make All America Sparkle City ..."

  • "STOP! You'll not mess up this town!"

(Haw, haw, listen to Mr. Over-modulated, thinks he can scare us.)

    "NO!!"

    (OMG, not THE KID!

We're through, boys! Don't turn THE KID loose on us, please! We'll come quietly!)

  • This one is a blast from the past that I almost forgot. Thanks!

  • @KABNETWORK, Thank you so much for uploading this one, I've been looking for this one for a long time.

  • I remember the longer version where Kid Cool-It exclaims, "It's Louie the Litterer -- and his Sewer-Rat Gang!"

    Thanks for sharing this.

  • Wow! Thanks. I haven't seen that since I was a little kid. That brought back so many memories.

  • Yes, there is a slightly longer version of this commercial in which Captain Cleanup looks at the audience and says in a quiet side comment "Remember, your parents are listening." Then the camera pans back and he delivers his final line "Make all America Sparkle City. Put litter in its place!"

Anybody have any idea if that one still exists?

  • Almost complete, The end where the mob is fighting each other has been cut, and a slide has been placed in to save about six seconds of play. Still, it's better than an even more edited version. Thank you for posting this wonderful bit of nostalgia!
