This is my mother the lead singer (VESSIE SIMMONS).

I remember when this song came out. I was 12 years old and loved it. We will never see a decade like the 50's and 60's ever again. It was good times and easy living.

@deesthebeesknees I always loved THIS version (Searchers....no lung power to do the song justice). I hope your mom knows how many people love her singing.

The Searchers went to no 1 in ep charts not singles chart

WOW What an amazing tune... just crazy to go your whole life without knowing it and then WHAM! Incredible.
-
@jrgboy The fact that the buyer had to pay more to buy an EP over the price of a single 45 means that the tune would have probably sold even more had it been available as a regular issue 45! Not bad!

@Rotis59 The song was a #number 1 in the UK, but not as a single - it was on an Ep - Entended play release which contained 4 songs, a popular format in the UK in the 50/60's

This was written by James Marcus Smith - better known as PJ Proby who had the hit Niki Hoeky in 1967. This song was #1 for the Searchers in England. Proby also recorded demos for Elvis in the late 50s-early 60s.

Strange...I tried uploading this also, and WMG stopped it. I had to laugh, there's no way in h*ll Warner knows the Ribbons. This was a little played West Coast non-hit, I used to think the DJ was saying the Rhythms.
Yes this is the actual 45rpm on the Marsh label.
