This is a song I wrote as a tribute to Charles W. Lindberg. Not the aviator, but the marine at Iwo Jima who was with the FIRST group who raised the flag on Mount Suribachi.
He was a resident of my home state of Minnesota and passed away last week. He was a recipent of the purple heart and the silver star, and the last member of the the flag raising team to die.
I read that when he was asked about a memorial being made for him, he replied, "Please don't make it about me, make it about all vets." So, I tried to remember that as I put this video and song together.
From what I've learned about him, he sounded like he was quite a guy and I would have liked to have known him.

  • I love the song..5 stars.

  • Thank you, I appreciate that very much.

  • Thanks John... Truly a valiant song. At risk of sounding like sniveling idiot, I read the comments and was very moved indeed.

  • Thanks John, and I appreciate you taking the time to watch the video. I read through them a while back, and they have the same effect on me.

  • Wow man, this is amazing, I don't really know, but at Boot Camp we learned about Iwo Jima. I see my Marines STILL trying to live in the legacy that Marines back then did.

  • Thanks! After I read your comment about the first flag raising, I wanted you to see this one. Thank you for your service!
