45% of the energy used in a home is used for heating and cooling a home and according to the U.S. Department of Energy 25-40% of the energy used for heating or cooling a home is wasted.
The amount of energy used can be increased when a system is dirty or not working properly. Dirty systems have to operate longer and harder to provide the desired level of comfort. Cleaning the coils and other parts will allow for a cleaner and more efficient heating and cooling system. Other ways to save energy include replacing a furnace filter, sealing ductwork, and using a programmable thermostat.
Learn what you can do to make your heating and cooling system more efficient since it is the main source of energy use in your home.
