I modded my EMGs with the18volt mod (two 9v batteries) and got a new guitar with passives and wanted to hear the difference. The amp is the Diezel VH4, channel 3 and at the end ch.4. Both guitars are Edwards, one is the Explorer and the other the Les Paul Custom John Sykes Model

  • the passives sound more full and warm

  • @Daan7000 exactly, they're a little saggy though compared to the tigh EMGs. Both really have their place..... specially live.

  • Diezels sound so dry. Theres no juice in this tone...MESA Roadsters FTW

  • @GuitarRocks23455 it seems that you gravitate towards looser amps.... Plus this clip is Mic'd with only one mic..... to REALLY get the full sound you need at least two mics

  • That Les Paul is a really nice guitar!! John Sykes is amazing! Where did you get it?

  • @ezurcher1 search for katana guitars on googl. I ordered it from Japan

  • @kismo24 He's not an excellent player, but neither am I, and I have two expensive guitars. He can buy what he wants, it's his money.

The VH4 sounds really "juicy" with Winged C 6L6s ;)

  • I don't know why this sounds so shitty, because EMGs and Seymour Duncans are both way better than you are making them sound. They sound weak and artificial in this video.

Maybe it's your amp settings or mic? Idk but the sound is really weird.

  • dude u just made me wanna buy the sh-6

  • Nice demo. Are the EMG's the solderless kind or are they hardwired? I think the soldered style sounds waaay better. Also the guitars make a difference. I would expect the Les Paul to sound fuller. I like both. I have a passive pick up in my BC Rich V and EMG's in my super beefy, super warm sounding ESP LTD. I like the less gain-y sound or the passives. I just turn up the pre amp and it sounds sweet.

  • Well it's not a secret that EMG are awesome for distorted heavy sound, I vote for them, even though I 'm a passive pickup fan. Moreover, there was a "secret weapon" - Master of Puppets it's meant to be played with active EMGs.

  • Sound on all pickups a shit!

  • Sound on all sound pickups a shit!

  • you better hope i never find out where you live O.o

  • Damn you must wipe your ass with cash... am I right?
