North Dakota National Guard Spc. John Chase was home on leave during his second deployment to Afghanistan when he learned his kidneys were failing. He talks about the experience and his reaction when his battle buddy, Sgt. Francisco "Cisco" Raatz stepped up and offered to donate his kidney. Having been adopted, Chase had no biological family available to consider organ donation, but his "Guard Family" proved to be enough. Despite all odds, Raatz, the first person tested, was a perfect match. (Video by Master Sgt. Eric Johnson, North Dakota Air National Guard)
