It appears the whalers are becoming increasingly aggressive this season in their attempts to fill commercial whaling quotas. If this is nothing more than a 'research' mission, why all the hostility?

Show us the 'research' you Japanese have given the world killing 900 Antarctic whales each year. There is no peer reviewed research at all. NONE. You are a nation of liars. SHAME ON JAPAN

Japan bribes small poor nations with cash and trade assistance to vote in favor of legalizing their Commercial Whaling cull. Research? Yeah, right!

I find it ironic that the S.S. supporters are so quick to claim their legal right to do what they're doing, but conveniently ignore the fact that not a single country or the U.N. or the IWC will recognize their actions as lawful. They also ignore the fact that the S.S. has a violent history and have had their other ship confiscated by Canada for other illegal activities.

Can you point out an official document for your claime here?
"The United Nations World Charter for Nature establishes the foundation for Sea Shepherd to intervene against illegal Japanese whaling activities."
UN, under no circumstance, would hire a private organization to enforce its decision, as far as I know.

It is the fact that Japanese whaling activities are illegal under IWC regulations and the provisions of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species, the Antarctic Treaty and a Federal Australian Court Order prohibiting whaling by Japan in the Australian Antarctic Territory however the United Nations World Charter for Nature establishes the foundation for Sea Shepherd to intervene against illegal Japanese whaling activities.

No it does not. UN will never authorize a private organization to conduct violent actions.

I quote from Senator Siewert in Australian Parliament:
'I move that the Senate condemns the violent actions of the Japanese whaling fleet, who have reportedly thrown metal balls at environmental activists, and used acoustic weapons to send out painful high frequency waves.
The Australian government's position on the issue of commercial whaling, including so-called scientific whaling, is clear: we remain absolutely opposed to it and have taken unprecedented steps to see it end.'

Combine the tens of thousands of cetaceans killed by Japanaese whalers each year, with the numbers killed as bycatch, add on those killed by eating plastic, and those hit by ships, and those diseased by brucella. Then factor in the shrinking ice that feeds krill and Japans expanded krill harvests.
A hell of a lot more whales are being killed than being born. Ending whaling is the easiest of the problems to solve and a good first stop.
Japan has already wiped out SBF Tuna, nothing left to save.
