I think Malcolm (the son in the film) was gay. At 3:14 the hoodlum suggests the only friends her son had are 'in public shower rooms'...

Then he says, "bet you kept him at it til he was 12" "kept him sucking" meaning she breast fed the son for her own enjoyment. He later alludes to his grandmother doing the same to him, using him for her enjoyment.

Jinkies! There's even a reference to the possiblity of Olivia's son being gay! That and the graphic violence & usage of marijuana made this quite a racy pic for it's time. And even the pawnbroker turns out to be a crook! I noticed that the house looks a lot nice on the inside as compared to the outside...I assume the interiors were filmed in on some Hollywood soundstage.

The movies almost always make people slow and clumsy(I know it's for dramatic effect)and completely ignore the adrenaline reactions of people in trouble.
