My first time to make an instructional video. Usually takes me 5-7 min to field dress a deer start to finish. However I haven't ever done it while talking before so it took a bit longer :) I made this video for my brother-in-law and decided to post it here. Sorry the camera angle isn't better but I hope it helps you in the field.

Note: If you want to keep your canopy (neck and head skin) whole for shoulder mounting, simply cut the trachea just above the top of the collar bone and proceed from there, or check with your taxidermist, for some the cut doesn't matter.

  • Excellent technique! 2 things. I believe you were referring to the esophagus (food pipe). The trachea (windpipe) is in front of the esophagus high up the neck where you cut. In the mid-chest the trachea divides to the lungs and the esophagus continues down into the gut. Second, I wish you would a second video too see your technique better down at the pelvis and anus. This is important for solo hunters. Best video yet and most practical technique for gutting for solo hunters. Thank you very much.

  • @MrJoeyBoombotz Yes, you are correct......my hunter anatomy was off....lol. I will try to post a follow up some time. Sure helps to have someone else holding the camera, like on my Chicken cleaning video.

  • @shredderific1337 You should look up a video on how to skin and process a deer too. This isn't even half of the work.

  • 100% real, superior MAN!!!

  • I've never hunted in my life or killed anything.... this wasnt nearly as disgusting as I thought it would be... Im a prepper and I'd like to thank u for teaching me something I might have to know later ;)

  • The 6 people who disliked has never even seen a deer in real life

  • I'm an urbanite - and know absolutely nothing about hunting. This said, I am not grossed about by this video - the only thing which bothers me is animals suffering needlessly, and industrial animal farms are far, far worse, that what is shown here. Most urbanites like me do not even know where their meat comes from, nor do they ever bother to think about this 'process'. I also work in surgery, I might add, and have witnessed autopsies. Lucky shot. They don't let students watch the messy ones.

  • That is a tiny 4 pointer and it looks super warm there for deer season. Where are you from where deer are that small and it's that warm during the season?

  • "Alright, here's Bambi" haha! Congrats though, on the deer!

  • great video new way to gut my deer

  • Nice job! This is another one I'll have my 11 year old son watch because it's so well done.
