The Rainbow Ramily of Living Light is said to be made up of tribes and families and people from all walks coming home together as one human family gathering together on the land. A rainbow gathering is different for every one. You may find people actively creating postive commuity with one another, learning and teaching ways we can live in harmony with nature, our mother earth, and each other. And celebrating life together. There is no formal organization or leadership. It is felt by many to be contrary to the spirit of the gatherings. It is said that any one with a belly button may consider themselves part of the rainbow family, and that even a belly button is not really needed. We are welcome home as one family.

There have been gatherings called Rainbow Gatherings since at least 1972, and there has been at least one large gathering of the tribes every year in the US on public land around the 4th of July since then. Many gather then to pray for peace and healing in the world. There are also gatherings in many parts of the world, in different countries and continents, and even world gatherings. There are many local and regional gatherings throughout the year. Some are timed with solstice or equinox or other special times and seasons. It may be that there have been gatherings before or since the "first" rainbow gathering in 1972 that may not have called themselves rainbow gatherings but were of the same spirit. The gatherings are called rainbow because they are for all the peoples of the earth, from many families, tribes, and nations. Some say that the Hopi people native to North America tell a vision of a time when mother earth, the land, air, waters, and creatures of all kinds were sick with poisons and ill treatment by people, the children of the white races, or more specifically the people who lived the cultures of those who displaced the native peoples of the Americas - not just caucasions) would grow their hair long, wear beads, and come together with the children of all the nations to heal the earth. Intentional community, respect for indigenous peoples and culture, ecology, and spirituality are common themes with peoples of the rainbow.

  • Does anyone know where i can go to these anytime now or this summer whenever

  • @SkateEmerica1990 Yes, the next National gathering is in Washington state. Look on Welcomhome dot o r g to find more info, There are also smaller regional gatherings you can go to. Washington's National gathering this year will be a great one. Washington was where the idea for the Rainbow Gatherings started.

  • You have destroyed my only child. You have brainwashed her into thinking that she doesn't even need a GED to get anywhere in life. She has dropped every dream she has ever talked about to join your cult! She says " I don't need a GED, I don't need a job to live free." Who in the hell actually believes this is true? You DO need an education to live in reality! Spirituality is something entirely different. I do not care what her spirituality is, if she is vegetarian etc., but an education...

  • @lessthn0 Sorry to hear your child feels she doesn't need an education. I wouldn't blame the Rainbow family for that however. It sounds like your kid decided that, not brainwashing. There are plenty of highly educated Rainbow family members. Kids tend to change their minds, you say she dropped her dreams, but she would say she changed them to a new one. I personally took my GED and went to collage a year early. I doubt your kid is getting advice to not get her GED, but is deciding it herself.

  • Wow! I'm going to have to go to one of these gatherings. I have been thinking about the sad nature of our society and how it can't keep going like it is. The people in this video know more about life than most people will allow themselves to realize. Why do so many people fear love?

  • @blkcpdconure Rainbow National Gathering. The consensus from the New Mexico gathering was for the 2010 gathering to be someplace in New Hampshire, Vermont, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Tennessee, North Carolina, Kentucky.

Visit welcomehome dotorg for more info.

  • What is wrong with hippies and community? Does that automatically discount what someone does? The clothes they wear, and how people label them?

You said "I watched your video and commented. If my comment doesn't show up in your comment section (you screen comments) I will know more about you than you intend."

Well you just showed your intolerance and told more than enough about yourself. I clearly explain my policy of screening comments.

  • there is no past, there is no future, shun corporations, shun politics

  • someone in the video used the word, yummyest....wheres the love button?!!! :D

  • @lessthn0 the educational institutions are churches of capitalism. real education happens at cultural gatherings.

  • @lessthn0 Sounds to me like your child went looking to find himself/herself and landed at Rainbow. I can sure think of worse places to be. At least in Rainbow land he/she will be looked out for by everyone at the gathering. And this is not a cult. There is no indoctrination, no leaders, just kind loving people all camping together. Your child will probably grow as a human in this environment more than they ever would have on the streets

  • @lessthn0 That's your reality; she chose here, and it's a different reality. Let us see who'se reality is more accurate- for her. Che can always choose again- as can you sister. Peace.

  • this is beautiful man, lots of love <3

  • We had a gathering in Missouri. Our social services took a big hit.

Medical expenses are taken care of by "free clinics" you have to support. Had plenty of pan handling .

But they took care of the area they used and left it in a very good condition.

  • @lessthn0

I have been going to gathering for 30 years

I am a medical doctor and have raised my family in the light if the rainbow

    The Rainbow doesn't brainwash anybody

I have known many responsible people who are highly educated who go to the gatherings

I have known many who gained vision of their way through the gathering

that may or may not include an education
