1945. Miriam Nelson, Hollywood choreographer, is partnered with Canadian dancer Johnny Coy in this WWII fun production number about a soldier coming home from the war and his girlfriend's ambition to get him to the alter.

As of this posting, Miriam Nelson, age 88, is still an active dancer and choreographer.

  • The number was great! The movie itself wasn't. Ed "Archie" Gardner tried to adapt his radio show into a theatrical "all-star extravaganza" through Paramount, with lackluster success. He never appeared in another major Hollywood film...

  • Yes, this is often the case.... wonderful numbers buried in lack luster movies. Lucky for us we have now have access to so many of these movies!

  • Wow! What a great number! Thanks for posting this Rusty :)

  • Great Johnny Coy, died at 53 in 1973. I have an old magazine article that recounts him having gone to Gene Kelly for lessons. Kelly promptly informed him, "I can't teach you anything."

  • Do you have this whole film - think you could upload it? i've wanted to see it for many, many years.

  • Am a agreat fan of Duffy's for many years--still remember his stay in PR. I was not aware, though, of this movie. Thanks for posting. Were all the radio characters portayed in the movie by the same actors? Apologies for the ignorance.

  • I am a great Duffy's Tavern fan--still enjoy the recordings of the show and listen to them frquently. I remember that Ed went to Puerto Rico ( where I am from)and did some great programs on a virtual shoestring budget.

Nevertheless, I don't remember this movie. Who are the dancers? Were Miss Duffy, Finnigan(?)and Eddie represented in the movie?

  • nice clip Rusty!
