Sondheim has been sporadically touring. The evening combining being interviewed about his work and career, along with performances from a couple of performers. He introduced the songs, giving them context. The evening finished with a Q&A with the audience. I attended one of these, and it now seems like it was the precursor for this Broadway piece.
I asked him if there was anything else left for him to try. He responded that he would like to try another grand opera (a la Sweeney Todd).
