No a Party's constitution is to a Party like Canada's constitution is to our country. A Constitution governs how a party will act. A Platform is just election promises that can be changed by the Party executive. A Party's constitution can only be changed by the Party.

I finally found it! Google "NDP of Canada constitution preamble" They keep hiding it deeper. By the way, I think they have 24/7 web site monitoring. I cited a very fishey page days ago, reported it to the a group that appeared to be being used with out their knowledge via carefully worded links. I noted it to the party and the said group. It disappeared within hours. I swear, they are so on top, I look either crazy or dishonest and I am not either one.

Yeah I wouldn't doubt it. I've sent numerous emails to the Party and have yet to receive one response back.

Sorry in that link you provided there's no constitution but just an election platform. I suggest you find their constitution and clearly see what the Party really and undeniably stands for which is against capitalism and an undemocratic emphasis of unions.

It's not dishonest simply not to state something. If that were true then if I were, say dyslexic, and didn't tell you, then I'd be dishonest. Lying about something being asked or misleading is dishonest. Not showing all your cards isn't dishonest. Perhaps not as open - but hardly dishonest.

When the CCF merged with the CLC in 1961, it was a very different time with many different situations once again different from of 2006, 07, 08, 09, and now 2010. The constitution may be a key part of the NDP, but over time, the part has slightly changed it's party's standing. In that time, the might have still added lines from the past parties constitutions, but now have decided only to put their platform on the site because it is the most UP TO DATE information on what the party believes.

tsk. tsk. tsk. This is either dishonest or you just don't understand what democratic socialism is. As Ed Broadbent stated, democratic socialism is taking the EXCESSES of capitalism and utilizing them to create a more free society, and also, a society in which wealth is more equally distributed. However, the basis for democratic socialism is a free market, anyone who knows anything on how a mixed economy thrives and functions would understand this.

The notion that the NDP is against the economy is false. Social economies are proven to have more stable and sustainable growth. The NDP throughout the Nation, according to Revenue Canada, has the best track record for balanced budgets, which doesn't include Tommy Douglas' 17 consecutive balanced budgets. Also, "directing" money in the economy currently takes place, so why are you against it? Taxes go towards all sorts of things and is a form of "directing".
