A little song I wrote back in 2005.
Lyrics:
Laying on my own on my pillow
Dreaming of the life I once knew
There's rain on the leaves of the willow
And a stain upon my face because of you

And it's no use weeping aloud
Those stupid songs of love are silent now

Do you recall reconsider
How we both refused to be blamed
Just hoping we'd pull through together
With indiscretions lurking in own brains

You speak to me of days when we were happy
You speak to me of nights we spent alone
I heard you whisper once we might marry
Before the willow leaves were brown and gone

So break me with your plainly cold intentions
And strip away all threads of dignity
And though you never meant this planned deception
You could not hide your perfect lies from me

And so it seems that I have been deceived again
By blind self-delusion in my mind
And if you ever see this fool believe me when
You see the troubled stare within these eyes

So here in this crazy world I am
No time in space to call my very own
Just laying here and gazing at the rain on the leaves of the willow
I'm watching withered dreams fall to the ground.

  • @boniwee

Many thanks, Boniwee. Your comments are very much appreciated. Very busy with my job these days, but compliments such as yours give me the inspiration to pick up the guitar again . . . now which way round does it go again . . . ?

p.s. YouTube have made it harder to find info these days, but my lyrics are actually there, somewhere, on the page.

    Cheers.

    Alan.

  • Glad you're happily going mad! heh heh.

I told you Joan Baez is coming in two weeks? A life treat for me.

There's a kid that I've started talking to. Plays classical guitar. Developing and very talented. Needs a little heart. I think you'll like him. Take care.

  • Hi, Deborah.

Again, my apologies for my slowness to reply, but again, just snowed under with things to do at the moment. Really hope you enjoy the visit by Joan Baez. I'm hoping to find time to continue analysing Janis Ian's 'At Seventeen' . . . just about finished learning the first verse now.

    Best wishes.

    Alan.

  • Allen,

Anything new?? Let me know please!

    Deborah

  • Hi, Deborah.

Sorry I've not gotten back to you yet; just mad busy these days. Although, I've finally managed to visit the local folk club a couple of times in the past few weeks, and that's been nice again. Presently, just started working on Janis Ian's 'At Seventeen' and I'm looking forward to performing it maybe in the early summer.

    Take care.

    Alan. :-)

  • This is lovely. I have no idea how I found it LOL but you have a beautiful voice. This isn't my style of music personally but it sounds really nice.

  • It is difficult to get balanced sound levels for guitar and vocals when using video. Thanks for the vids and hope you add some more a some stage.

  • Hi Alan, This is a wonderful original song!!! Nice harmonie and beautifuly arranged. Congratualtions! 5 glittering stars and Love and Light to you and yours from Austria - Sharine
