I've refrained from saying it elsewhere, but I'll say it here: The dirty little secret of the wedding biz is the absolute unimportance of the Wedding Planner (except for those that are given total control of the planning, including the hiring of the vendors). They live in constant fear that their unimportance will be discovered, and, as a result, interpose themselves in every aspect of the details, creating a sense of necessity for their service which doesn't exist.
