This was the solo that moved Buck to the front of my Greatest list.
There's nothing like it.

Buck Dharma is one of the best guitarists I have ever listened to!!
He is Guitar God!

There's just something about Blue Oyster Cult. No matter who is in the band when they play a gig, whether it's an original member or just a temporary member filling in, the level of playing is phenomenal. It's as if just being in the band raises your level of skill, be you on guitar, drums or keyboard.

@Iknowmusic1988 You are correct, Bloom didnt play the drums. During the song Cities on flame with rock n roll Bloom would stand on the drum riser and just hit the cymbals while the drummer was playing. Bloom would bounce the drumsticks off the floor, catch them and continue banging the cymbals in time with the beat. I have a picture of this that I took at a concert in 2007 since they still do this on stage. I will email it to you if you want.

@azdominator Eric Bloom playing drums? But he wasn't the drummer (he was vocals and played rhythm) Albert Bouchard was drummer til he left. Or did Bloom play drums too? That'd be badass to see if so.
I really want to find the concert[s] where all 5 members played guitar and made some wicked noises. If anyone knows where I could get that, let me know please?

@Iknowmusic1988 Their showmanship was awesome as well. The 5 guitar bit, Bloom bouncing the drumsticks off the stage and catching them in perfect time never missing a beat pounding the cymbals during Cities on flame. Bucks incredible solos, Albert and Joe rhythm section and Laniers keys were just fantastic. They still put on a great show but those stadium and arena shows back in the 70s were the best and they will never headline to those huge crowds again. BOC ON TOUR FOREVER!!!

@Iknowmusic1988 The shows in '74 were great because they played songs from Secret Treaties, Tyrannny and 1st album. The light shows were ok and the giant BOC logo flag was cool. around '75 they really stepped it up when they added the lasers to their live shows. One of the first bands to really do so, especially on the level they had. Bloom shooting the laser from his wrist and hitting a giant mirror ball in the middle of a large arena type venue during Astronomy was INCREDIBLE!

@azdominator '74? Really?!? That's awesome!! How did their live show compare to other bands at the time? I met a friend who saw 'em in '75 or so; and he said they were, and still remain, the greatest concert he's ever seen!

@Relivedmemories I'm going with some friends to see them in October in Fresno,CA. I can't wait!
Yeah, I really like, mostly(because I haven't heard a BOC song I didn't like), the early 70s with Joe and Albert Bouchard. I think Imaginos was mainly written by Albert, but I don't think I ever really listened to the album. I bet it's pretty good though.

@Iknowmusic1988 Yeah me too.I think you have to giv e the hole band credit for the variety.I think Allen Lanier is the best key board pl,ayer in the rock world with two exceptions(John Lord and Billy Powell) I really miss the Bouchards vocals and writing, but if youve seen them latley its quite a show minus Erics vocal chords blowing out.He still is such a great musician and showman.I contantly take new people to BOC shows whenever they come to the Pacific NW and they all leave believers.
