James Clar is a designer and artist whose work deals with light and visual systems. He studied film at New York University and went on to receive his Masters in Media Art at NYU's Interactive Telecommunication's Program. His thesis project the 3D Display Cube received the Design Distinction Award by I.D. magazine.

James has been involved in various design residencies such as Eyebeam Atelier in New York, Fabrica in Italy, and FedEx Institute of Technology in Memphis. His work has been shown in places such as the New Museum of Contemporary Arts, Chelsea Art Museum, Japan Media Arts Festival, Seoul Design Festival, Chanel Mobile Art Exhibition along with a collaborative piece collected by the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

James resides as the Director of Media Technologies at Traffic. For his first public exhibition in Dubai, James has created an array of new work and installations.
