African socialism was a way to free Africa from the crippling aspects of Western colonialism and imperialism, and unite Africans to build towers of hope and prosperity for Africa. A way of freedom from oppresion and racism.

I think he is a good leader but not a perfect one in trying to help the people free from the colonialism, imperialism, capitalism, and racism. I know that Tanzania went to downfall and that Nyerere impronsed and purged people, but I believe that he didn't meant to do it as he love his people, I think reason for this is the aftermath that colonialism brung. His ideas to help devlop Tanzania are so influental not to Africans, but people who enjoy freedom.

A great man. Like many, sometimes he made small mistakes, but he's left a legacy of peace in Tanzania. I met him, briefly, in 1961, when he flew in to Geita mine. There's a few frames on my video, here on youtube.

wow. you really don't know your history nor do you have any idea who this man was, and how much he did. He did NOT take Zanzibar. Tanganyika and Zanzibar agreed to merge as one country because both governments knew it would have been easier. He was not a communist. He was a Socialist. Please get your facts str8. You really don't know a thing. Google exists for a reason. Do your research before talking gibberish.
