Thousands of University of Washington entering freshmen and transfer students come together to create a gigantic "W" at Husky Stadium. 2011 marks the 6th consecutive year entering students have formed the "W." This year is particularly special because it is the 150th anniversary of the UW and because UW President and Mrs. Young joined students on the field to kickoff the new academic year.

Freshman and Transfer Student Kickoff represents the moment when new students transition into the University of Washington, beginning a new phase of their lives and engaging with all the benefits and opportunities of a world-class institution.
