Oregon Music Project -- Aurora Colony Historical Society

The Oregon Music Project of the Aurora Colony Historical Society preserves and makes available music composed and played by the Aurora Colony, a German Christian utopian community in Oregon from 1856 to 1883. The project includes cleaning and properly storing play books, photocopying every page including any notes on scraps of paper, entering every note into a special music computer program, creating a conductors score for each tune, verifying the originality of the tunes, and publishing band play books using todays notation and instrumentation. By bringing back the music, the Aurora Colony Historical Society puts this music back into the hands of todays musicians in schools and communities by making it available to them.
