A short (and rough) video of some "wild west" action. The story is as follows...

Me and two others are producing the Wild West Music Fest (a weekend event featuring live music and "wild west" street entertainment including members of our renaissance festival equestrian stunt team, Joust Evolution). We went down to Festival Park (home of the Des Moines Ren Faire) to film a few minutes of scenes to be used in a TV commercial. I also shot alot of extra misc. footage of Drew walking around, and Kevin and Drew "fighting."

Some facts: nothing was planned or scripted. It was just kind of "okay, let's go over here, and you guys do some quick fight moves in front of this building." Everything they did was just thrown together on the spot, then butchered by my quick same evening editing so I could post it for fun.

Some things to notice: the running gag is the hat. In every scene we tried to make sure one of them lost his hat, then it would magically be back in the next scene :-) (Too subtle to be noticed in the TV commercial, but fun.)

Also, at the end, when Kevin is punched back to the castle mural, he looks over at the painting. That's him as a jouster, a tribute done by the mural's artist from last year.

The most "country" looking buildings of the renfest park were used - Viking Pavilion (Buffalo Trading Post at this event), Canterbury Sausage, Shenanagan's Tatoos, and, for fun, the Amos Fab Foods "pirate ship" building and then Marick Castle.

There was only one gun/gun belt so we swapped it back and forth between shots.

All for fun; nothing planned, just an abuse of editing tools.

Enjoy! (And maybe we'll really do a cheesy Spaghetti Western sometime.)

  • It's a movie theme -- forget the name, but at the very end is a credit that tells the name of it and what iTunes CD it came off of.

  • What's the name of the song?
