Met Van about 25 years ago his bassists then Craig was great as well and said I was good enough to play and should get up Van makes everything look easy and its not..
Van hosted the jam nights at Steamboat in Austin for years... He has been solid in the scene there as long as I can remember being there..Bout the time I got the nerve to get up and play
Craig had left the band :( he was the one who jammed with me at Vans house after hours.
Bombay tears was a great record !

I have seen van since 1971 he played at mother earth on Lamar a frequent hang out for us Austin people !!!! Hes a legend.

used to see him in the early 70's with a band named fools. tommy shannon on bass, uncle john turner on drums and another guitar player, who's name i don't know. they played the too bitter alot in san marcos, and all over austin. great times

Van Wilks is one of my favorite guitarist out of Texas. Yeah I know he teaches guitar in Austin,..It would be cool to learn from Van. How is he as a guitar teacher?
