Rep. Jones refutes inaccurate media reports that have spread misinformation by faulting deceased Marine pilots Lt. Col John A. Brow and Major Brooks S. Gruber for the April 8, 2000, MV-22 Osprey crash in Marana, Arizona. He cites evidence which indicates that the fatal factor in the crash was the aircrafts lack of a Vortex Ring State (VRS) warning system and the pilots lack of critical training regarding the extreme dangers of VRS onset in the Osprey. He thanks the Marine Corps for their help in clearing the names of these pilots, and urges the Navy to help properly honor the sacrifice of these pilots who bravely gave their lives in service to their country.

  • 14 Marines from my company, India Company 3rd Battalion 5th Marines, died in that crash. 7 from my platoon, one of which was my roommate, Jorge Morin. If I didn't break my leg 3 month's beforehand, I wouldn't be commenting on this video. I miss them daily.

  • Walter Jones is engaging in revisionist history. The fact is that if any other rotary winged platform was flown by Brow and Gruber in the same manner as they flew the MV-22 that night, the results would have been the same. Brow and Gruber; himself an experienced rotary winged pilot, engaged in flagrant violations of NATOPS, the 800/40 rule, basic airmanship and lost situational awareness. They committed several errors resulting in the deaths of 19 United States Marines. Denying that is a lie.
