This is an aria I performed back in march for my joint recital with my friend. The aria is called 'Che faro senza Euridice?' from Gluck's Orfeo ed Euridice.

To sum it up, Orfeo has just gone to the underworld to get his beloved and is allowed to bring her back as long as he trusts that she is behind him and does not look back to her. At her urging, he gives in, looking to her, at which point, she dies. The aria soon comes after with Orfeo asking 'Che farò senza Euridice? (What will I do without Euridice?).

Translation is as followed...

Che farò senza Euridice
What will I do without Euridice

Dove andrò senza il mio ben.
Where will I go without my wonderul one.

Euridice, o Dio, risponde
Euridice, oh God, answer

Io son pure il tuo fedele.
I am entirely your loyal one.

Euridice! Ah, non m´avvanza
Euridice! Ah, it doesn´t give me

più socorso, più speranza
any help, any hope

ne dal mondo, ne dal cel.
neither this world, neither heaven.

++++++++++++

Thank you very much for viewing/listening. ^_^

  • I know this aria very well. Kathleen Ferrier made it her own and Maria Callas has sung it - amongst others. Your version was just wonderful. Just wish I could have seen you, whoever you are. You have a great career ahead if that is your wish. Thank you for posting.
