For AC loads back to back SCRs are advisable to be used in place of a triac to overcome the quadrant problem.Triac needs one opto coupler while back 2 back SCRs shall require 2 opto couplers to be used.Use MOC 3061 3063 for just switching on or off the load .Use MOC 3020 3021 for firing angle controlled requirements of the load.

  • Are U trying in the hardware or on the Proteus software ? If on Proteus it may not work .Change the triac to any one having library of TECCOR it will work .Don't take the generic one as it will not work in the simulation. In hardware one must know that Triacs need more triggering current as compared to a SCR so design the same accordingly

  • If I send pulses on the digital line (PWM), will this circuit become a dimmer?

If so, what would be the frequency range?

  • Hi, I'm fighting with a strange problem, I use a MOC 3043 to trigger a triac bud it wont work and I use the scheme of the proposition in the data sheet for the 230 V version.

I simply want to switch a normal lamp of 40 W.

I used the same copler for 2 thyristors back to back and this was working. I used only one MOC3043 like in the scheme in the data sheet ??

Why You use two MOC3043's ? For the triac version I thing I must change the serie resistor value ? Can You help ?
