the tunnels of central state.

at one time, there were over 5 miles of underground tunnels that connected various buildings all over the massive property. they were primary used to transport patients during incliment weather, but the tunnels also served a more sinister purpose....dark dungeon like rooms, with shackles and chains on the walls were discovered by workers renovating the tunnels back in the 1950's.....many of the tunnels have since been closed off, but some of them are still passable.....these are just some video clips i took while exploring this part of the hospitals dark, dank past......

hey cool video, would you be willing to show me or tell me how to get in there? how many miles are open? i have been in the tunnel that runs under indianapolis from new york street to white river, and am looking for more, im a caver and dont always have time to get to southern indiana to get underground, if you respond ill give you an email or just send me a message on here, thanks

dude, the tunnels arent hard to find. i think it was a staircase behind the power plant building. its concrete, goes below ground, and bam youre in the tunnels; however, in july 09 there was about 3"s of stagnant water on the floor containing every kind of bodily fluid you could name. so you need some rubber boots, not just water resistant work boots, but the boots that go over shoes or other boots.

there was a pipe that burst in the basement of the admin building, it was spewing forth lord knows how many of water per minute...and why was there still water svc to that building? that's what i'd like to know....

i have an old map that details the tunnels of central state...at one time there 5 miles of tunnels...many of them have since been filled in, i'm not quite sure how many miles are still passable...

a respirator/TBmask would be nice to because sometimes IMPD pumps tear gas in these buildings to get trespassers out. I went in Bahr building while I was there and after we left I developed post exposure symptoms from residual tear gas.
