Update: Since this video we won (with help of Disability RIghts Attorneys) adequate home nursing support!!!! Abuse inside group homes more common than state officals care to admit. Supporting home healthcare (homehealth) for severely autistic persons makes sound economic, environmental and humanitarian sense. Protection Advocacy. OCR. DRC. Home health vs. Institutional cost care.

  • I was placed in a group home in 2005 . Everything was nice for a while, but after a while everything started getting downhill. She started abusing me , and she did it to me every day, she was a strong hitter and very loud yelling at me, and all that hurt. I started getting emotional, wanted my mother, and I started getting worse, depressed and suicidal., I was put in hospital afterwards . I have aspergers a high function autism but when I got worked up, I was getting self abusive behavior too.

  • @TypesEvilAspieEyes OMG I'm so sorry what you went through. That must have been very traumatic. No wonder you engaged in self abuse, as sometimes self abuse can be a response when you are trapped in a terrible situation. As for my son, I am tormented by the fact he sees the world around him as a place that doesn't make sense and sends him continually into self abusive moments. We try REALLY hard to make his life comfortable, and it seems to help...

  • hi i get support from my friends ive got to kids but because of my disorders im not aloud to take care of them .i used to hang out with the wrong peaple to and had a drinking problem but then i dident for two years and the cas still dident let my kids come back to me because ive got ptsd and fasd and bye poler so the docters said and i had a learning test at this place and ive got learning problems but not enough for there help so ive got no profesional support out there its hard a lot

  • @TheSpike114 I'm sorry it's been hard for you. Stay strong and know that many people love and support you. To heck with professionals. They are good for writing reports, going to meetings and writing prescription, but for those of us who live with autism and aspergers, it's we who know what is best for ourselves and our loved ones and we need to do all we can to keep up with research and better treatment so we can be advocates for ourselves and those we love

  • Even school placement has proven nearly impossible at times although the law requires it. Teachers have abused my son in three states (every state he was served). Nothing was done, P&A could not do anything. Why? Jurisdiction. My son crossed state lines so when he was abused, no one could legally represent him. I am forced to stay home as a result, to care for my son as I will NEVER place him, aware of the serious potential for abuse in facilities. This cancer needs a voice in our society.

  • I am in a schoo/institution and my dad pays for a one on one aide. I have not even been in a group home because this state has no money for it. We actually had a family nearby that were all massacred. The state says they don't have the money to prosecute. So they let people languish in abusive homes and instituations (mine is not abusive at all) and let murderers sit in prison. What happened to America?

  • @CDFoakly, yeas , I was trapped , until 2006 .it was 2 very long years. Felt like forever, my eyes were swollen from so much crying. Until I went to work one day , called my parents, then the police. And I never came back . That time I got out was a huge breakthrough . I pressed charges on the person who owns the home , but charges were dropped , but I think is on record. If someone else sends the courts a complaint, then it adds to the record. I am better now am with my parents. The parents ar
